Camping de Trevélez- Horcajo

Itinerary: Camping de Trevélez- Horcajo
Altitude: Camping de Trevélez : 1560 metros
Horcajo : 2000 metros

We meet at the campsite Restaurant at 7.30 am. Coffees are on the house. We then walk from the Campsite to Barrio Medio, in the middle of Trevélez where we can see the typical narrow town streets.

Walking towards Haza Madrid-Río Culo Perro-Piedra Cabrera-Horcajo , the path follows along the Trevélez River where there is always plenty of water flowing. We will see Rainbow Trout, cows, sheep and the Hispanic Goat. We also see the remainder of a water mill, as well as a water measurer. From here we can admire Piedra Ventana´s peak, Tajo Pino, Umbría de Culo Perro and Fuente Agrilla.

We continue on the path on the right side of the river, up to the end of the Acequia Nueva (new canal) and we cross it to avoid the Crestones de los Posteros.

Then we will continue on the left hand side until we pass the Loma de Chordi and then we cross the river using the bridge.

We will stay on this margin for another 5 minutes and we will cross it again. Always following the left margin and walking under Tajo de Peña Cabrera we will get to the junction of the two rivers Juntillas and Puerto de Jerez in the Horcajo where the valley opens up to the breathtaking mountains Alcazaba and Goterón, over 3000 meter peaks.
