Itinerary : Guided Route to Juviles |
There are a total of 11 long distance European Routes.
One of them, the E-4 starts from Greece and crosses various countries to Gibraltar. This route comes into Spain through Andorra; and from this point it is called GR-7. (long distance route nº 7)
The path starts from the road that goes to Juviles, just a few meters after crossing Trevélez River.
We go up the path until we cross a beautiful 'acequia'(canal built by the moors) then we take the path on the right hand side.
Going into an area full of pine trees we keep to the right and going out of the pine area we go to the left of the chestnut trees area that is in front of us and up on top of a platform situated above a cortijo (typical farm house).
This path will take us to a forest road that crosses a fireguard.
After bordering a wire fence we leave the forest road to start descending along a path that goes down to Juviles.
We need to pay special attention to the first ravine, named 'Fuente Mecina' with the birth of a river starting below it, and after crossing it we take the path on the right.
If we don't feel like coming back the same way, we can take the bus back to Trevélez at 17.00 (it is the only one).
